This fall, we intend to run a full schedule of City Walks, starting around the beginning of November and continuing to mid-December. As usual, we will have a walk every Sunday, starting at 10:00 AM. We also may offer some walks on weekdays this fall, if there is enough interest.
We will also offer our less formal program of Winter City Walks, from the beginning of January until it is nice enough to cycle in the spring, where the start points, end points, and routes will typically not be announced until a few days before the walk. This allows us to select a route appropriate for the expected weather conditions, reflect current events, or other items of interest.
If you would like to have some input, or have some suggestions, or would just like to get together on-line with some friends, feel free join us. Alternatively, you can email me any of your ideas at citywalks@tbn.ca
For more information on the City Walk program and some possible discussion topics, have a look at:
https://www.tbn.ca/programs/fallwinter/citywalks
If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to volunteer to lead a walk, email me at citywalks@tbn.ca.

A Sunday Leisure Wheeler Ride on a Saturday!
Bring: snacks, EXTRA DRINKS, spare inner tube. Wear helmet.
This ride may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Notification of cancellation will appear after 6:30 AM.
Note: Because of the distance, this is a 55 km advanced Leisure Wheeler Ride. There is also a VERY steep downhill walk (10%grade) for about 8 minutes. It might be difficult to walk with a heavy e-bike. It is NOT possible to ride on this downhill spot because we will be walking on the shoulder against the traffic.
This unusual ride, normally on a Sunday, will be on Saturday in order to more easily navigate the TTC and the GO Train schedules. We take the Niagara Train from Union Station to Aldershot. The ride then begins at the Aldershot Go station on the NORTH side (where the washrooms are). This route will take us gradually to the escarpment above Hamilton where we will view the Albion Falls and the Devil's Punchbowl Conservation area. We then have a STEEP downhill walk and continue with a ride along the Hamilton Beach Trail. From that trail, we cross into Burlington and end at the Burlington Go. This will be an all day ride, probably ending at 4:30 pm. (early supper afterward for those who wish).
After the Ride: Join us at “The Express" restaurant (Mediterranean Bistro with pizza, pasta, salads) http://expressrestaurant.com/burlington/menu.html on Lakeshore Rd. in Burlington before we go to the GO Station. It has a large patio but we will need to reserve. If you would like to join us at the restaurant, contact Sandra by 5:00 pm, Thursday September 18 at: leisurewheeler@tbn.ca
There are washrooms at Union Go and Aldershot Go.
START: Plan to meet at the YORK concourse at 8:40 AM for the GO train at Union Station at 9:05 am. We will arrive at Aldershot at 10:03 am and meet on the NORTH side of the station (where there are washrooms).
We will be taking the Niagara Excursion Train which leaves Union Station at: 9:05 am. It arrives at Aldershot at 10:03 am This special train is preferable because it has bike racks on the lower level of some cars. The return train from Burlington is not a special Niagara Excursion Train and will not have bike racks.

Today's ride is a variation of other cycling routes in the Lake Simcoe area, which was added to the CC schedule in 2023 at the recommendation of some WW's - and courtesy of the WWs - who thought it would be nice to revisit the shores of Lake Simcoe on a Sunday, versus midweek, in Sept. The routes take us from Keswick along the picturesque shores of Lake Simcoe past Sibbald Point Provincial Park to Virginia Beach Marina. The medium and long routes turn inland, while the short route returns back along the shores of Lake Simcoe. Lunch for all three routes will be at Tim Horton's on Dalton Rd in Sutton. A pleasant alternative is Elaine’s Black River Coffee on High St.
Start: 9:30am Meet at the Georgina Ice Palace, 90 Wexford Drive, just off Woodbine Ave in Keswick
Driving Directions: Take Hwy 401 east to Hwy 404. Go north on Hwy 404 to Woodbine Ave. / Regional Rd. 8 - Exit 65. Turn left on Woodbine Ave. / Regional Rd. 8. Continue to Wexford Dr. and turn left. Turn right onto the driveway to the Georgina Ice Palace.
