City Walk – Lawrence Square to Albert’s

  • 02 Feb 2020
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Upstairs Food Court in Lawrence Square Plaza, near Lawrence West Subway Station

Meet at 10 AM in the upstairs Food Court in Lawrence Square Plaza, just west of Lawrence West Subway Station (Spadina Line), on the north side of Lawrence Ave. Coffee is available at the Tim Hortons on the ground floor and the McDonald’s in the Food Court. (Note that we are officially meeting at the upstairs location that we gathered at a couple of weeks ago).

We will walk about 12 Km from Lawrence Square Plaza to the St Clair West Station, mostly through quiet residential and light industrial neighbourhoods. The route will be on city streets, sidewalks, and a few paved paths through parks, so shoes or boots suitable for the weather would be appropriate.

We will stop for a coffee at Commisso Brothers and Racco Bakery. I have not been there for many years, but I seem to recall from my last visit, 3 or 4 decades ago, that they may have enough room to accommodate us.

Early exits and other points of interest along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km - Lawrence Square Plaza (coffee, bathrooms)
  • 3.7 Km - Commisso Brothers and Racco Bakery (coffee, bathrooms)
  • 5.0 Km - early exit to Eglinton Ave bus
  • 7.5 Km - early exit to St Clair streetcar
  • 8.0 Km - Joe Piccininni Community Centre (bathrooms)
  • 10.6 Km - Wychwood Barns (optional bathroom stop, if needed)
  • 11.0 Km - Lunch Stop (McDonald’s, Subway, Albert’s Real Jamaican, and others)
  • 11.7 Km - St Clair West Station (end of walk, bathrooms in Loblaws)

The route is available on Ride with GPS at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31840159

Note that there will be no subway service on Line 1 between Finch and Eglinton stations on Saturday and Sunday, as this may affect your travel plans. Please check https://www.ttc.ca/Service_Advisories/Subway_closures/index.jsp in case there are any further changes.

Non-members are welcome. They will be asked to sign the waiver form but will not be charged the non-member fee.
