Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs (journalist, author, theorist, activist, and proud Torontonian) which will take place on May 1, 2 and 3, 2026. Information on the Jane’s Walk Festival and the walks being offered this year will be posted at: https://www.janeswalkfestivalto.com/walks.
Some TBN members will be meeting up today to do a few Jane’s Walks together, starting with "Revisiting Cancelled Expressways as We Walk the Route of the Spadina Expressway". Let's meet at Coffee Time, 1471 Eglinton West, about 200 m west of Cedarvale Station (formerly Eglinton West Station). Coffee Time is on the south side of Eglinton, at Winona, where we have met several times before. Be prepared to leave about 9:50 to allow time to walk to the start at Ben Nobleman Park, across from Cedarvale Subway Station for the 10:00 AM start. Get to the coffee shop early if you would like to have a coffee or use the washroom.
I would like to suggest that for a second walk, we could do “Blythwood Rd. Heritage Conservation District”. It starts at 1:00 PM at Snider Parkette at Yonge & Lytton Blvd. We may have time to have a quick meal, take the TTC, and walk about 15 minues to the start.
Please note that the Toronto Marathon takes place this day, and may affect your travel plans. The road closure info is available at https://www.torontomarathon.com/race-info/road-closure-info/.
If you have any suggestions for Jane’s Walks that you would like to do, please contact me at citywalks@tbn.ca .
