Meet near Yonge and Lawrence, inside Lawrence Subway Station, just outside the fare gates at the north end of the station (Bedford Park Av. and Ranleigh Av. entrance), below grade level, at 6:00 PM. (The south entrance of Lawrence Station is closed for construction). We will go for a walk of about 7 km, although we may shorten the distance to arrive at the dinner stop at the appropriate time.
We will walk through local neighbourhood streets specially selected for their beautiful Christmas light displays. There will be lots of opportunities to stop and take pictures along the way! The walk will end about 7:30 pm at Sorn Thai Restaurant (www.sornthai.com), the optional dinner stop. (Note there is limited seating space in the restaurant (about 20) and there may not be room for everyone). The restaurant is located at Yonge Street and Briar Hill Avenue about 500 metres North of Eglinton Station.
Unlike previous years there will be no mid walk washroom/coffee break at Sunnybrook Hospital. There are some streets on this walk without sidewalks so please wear something that will make you easily visible to drivers and walk facing traffic. This will be in the evening after dark, and the weather forecast is for cold temperatures and wind, so please dress very warmly. You may want to wear winter boots if there is snow on the ground. Season’s Greetings Everyone!
No scheduled subway outages have been posted yet, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.
