G2G Rail Trail - Guelph-Goderich-Guelph

This year we will have two flavors of this wonderful ride. The classic long route starting and finishing in Guelph and a shorter version, using Milverton as the launch point.

The event organizer will create a WhatsApp group for all registrants to help them book a room and find another registrant to share the room with. Everyone is expected to book their own room in Goderich - the Bedford Hotel is recommended. CAD187 including tax for a two beds room. The Cedar Lodge Motel is also available for CAD202 including tax for a similar setup.

CLASSIC:

The classic version (~140km each way) will leave Guelph at 8:00 AM, we will ride to Goderich, where we will stay overnight, and then ride back to Guelph on Sunday.

Overnight parking multiple parking lots are available near the starting point in Guelph. The East Parkade and East Surface Lot (closest to the route start) both cost 3 dollars on Saturday and free on Sunday, unless there is a special event.

Short:

The short ride of ~80 km (each way) starts in the village of Milverton, located on the G2G trail, about 1.5 hours’ drive west of the GTA. This will be a no-drop ride, stopping periodically to let everyone catch up.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

• Bring plastic sandals or water shoes for wading the Maitland River, and street and sleeping clothes for Goderich evening.
• The G2G Rail Trail is a well-kept gravel rail trail. The trail surface is stone dust, with occasional short detours onto gravel and paved roads. A bike with wide tires will make for a better ride.
