CultureLink is pleased to offer to Toronto Bicycle Network (TBN) members a free “Introductory Bike Maintenance and Repair Course” on May 27th, Monday, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Up to 12 people can register. When registering please indicate whether you plan to bring your own bike (encouraged) or will use one of our bikes.

The course will be held at the CultureLink Bike Hub, 15 Tobermory Drive, North York M3N 2R5. This is the north-east corner of Tobermory Drive and Finch Ave, and 1 km east of Jane Street. The Bike Hub entrance is the south most door nearest to Finch. Guest parking is in the northern end of the parking lot. It is TTC accessible with a 36A/36B bus stop at Tobermory Drive and Finch Ave.

This brief introductory course will provide you the opportunity to learn basic bike maintenance and repair skills, including: Tires & Tubes; Rim and Disc Brake Systems; Front & Rear Derailleur Systems; Chain; Cranksets; Pedals; Rear Sprockets; Handlebar & Stem; Headset; Wheel Truing.

Each student will be loaned a Park Tools Blue Book of Bicycle Maintenance (which the course is based on), a bicycle (if they don’t bring their own), bike stand, and tools. Pizza and juice/water will be provided when you arrive.

By the way, the CultureLink Bike Hub offers Do It Yourself (DIY) bike maintenance hours every Tuesday and Thursday 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and 2nd Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. During DIY hours a bike mechanic is on hand to provide you with assistance if needed.

The CultureLink Bike Hub also needs and accepts donated used bicycles during the DIY hours above. They also need volunteer bike mechanics to repair donated bicycles, which are then given away free to people in the Jane-Finch area that cannot afford a bicycle.

If you register, but can no longer make it please cancel your registration. If you cannot cancel your registration, please email: education@tbn.ca
