 WINTER HIKING

Please keep in mind that Winter Hiking is different than Fall Hiking.  Proper footwear and icers are required

Situated in the Oak Ridge Moraine much of the surface consists of hills which are made up of sandy and gravelly materials with underlying clay.  Sugar maples and beech trees make up most of the hardwood forest while white pines are dominant in the sandy areas.  This is not a hard hike but should be fun at this time of year.

Distance:  12 km

Pace:       Moderate (~3.5 km/hr)

Terrain:     Moderate - rocky with hills and/or poor footing.               Proper footwear and icers are required

Directions:   Parking as usual this year is at a premium.  We will be parking in a smallish parking lot which should be sufficient.
