Meet at about 10:00 AM, at ground level, outside or just inside the entrance to Dupont Subway Station (Line 1) on the north-west corner of Spadina and Dupont. We will begin the walk at 10:10 sharp.

Elena will reprise her excellent "more walk, less talk" walk to various buildings and locations associated with the Masseys, a Canadian family that has been prominent since the mid-19th century, who are known for manufacturing farm equipment and for being patrons of the arts in Canada. The family's manufacturing company, later known as Massey Ferguson, provided the Masseys with their significant fortune.

We will head downtown to St Lawrence Market, where participants may have lunch, then go to Union Station to get back to the subway. Total distance will be about 8.8 Km.

Since this walk is downtown, there will be ample opportunity to access transit, if you wish to leave early.

Points of interest along the way will include:

  • 0.0 Km - Dupont subway station
  • 0.2 Km - Charles Bert Massey House
  • 2.1 Km - Lillian Massey Building
  • 2.9 Km - Massey College
  • 3.1 Km - Sidney Smith Hall (washrooms)
  • 3.5 Km - Hart House
  • 4.5 Km – early exit to Wellesley station
  • 5.0 Km - 519 Jarvis Street & Keg Mansion
  • 6.8 Km - Massey Hall (and early exit to either Dundas Station or Queen station at about 7.2 Km)
  • 7.0 Km - Metropolitan United Church
  • 7.9 Km - St. Lawrence Market (closed)
  • 8.8 Km - Union Station (lunch/washrooms/end of walk)

The route is available on Ride with GPS at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44707921.

There is currently a full weekend scheduled subway closure on Line 2 from St George to Woodbine, so you may have to allow additional time to get to the start. However, please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.

We are accepting Guest registrations.
