CANCELLED-Freedom Friday: Waterfront trail to Oshawa

  • 23 Jun 2017
  • 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Bella Vista Drive, Pickering

CANCELLED, DUE TO FORECASTS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ALL MORNING

New start point to avoid possible flood damage in Scarborough.

Ride the pancake flat Waterfront trail from Pickering to Oshawa and back, with picnic tables available at various points along the route, and at the turnaround point. Some of the route follows quiet residential streets, but most of it is on the trail, often with glorious views of Lake Ontario. This is a fun ride, not a fast ride. Enjoy it.

The 69km ride starts at 830 am from Bella Vista Drive in Pickering. There's a small parking lot where the road meets the bike trail, and ample street parking on the road itself.

To get to the start point, take the 401E to Whites Road (exit 394). Go south on Whites Road and turn right at Granite Ct., then left onto Rosebank Rd. Then it's left on Rodd Rd., then right onto Bella Vista Dr.  The parking lot is just on your right.

(The trail is well marked, so you probably won't need all the details on the long cue sheet.)

Ride leader: Dinsmore Roach

Remember: Ride leader will not have copies of printed maps and cue sheets. Please print out your own copy and bring it with you to the ride.

Please note: This ride is mostly on quiet, paved multi-use trails. Your average speed will be much slower than on a normal Tourist class ride. You must ride carefully, and be prepared to give way to pedestrians and other trail users. The views are your reward.
