For today's walk, let's meet at about 10:00 AM at Coffee Time, 1471 Eglinton West, about 200 m west of Cedarvale Station (formerly Eglinton West Station). Coffee Time is on the south side of Eglinton, at Winona, where we have met several times before, most recently 3 weeks ago for the “Friends” walk. The walk will begin at 10:10 AM.

We will attempt to walk under the railroad tracks through the Bert Robinson Park tunnel and over the railroad tracks via the Innes Avenue Pedestrian Bridge. We will provide information on the Fairbank-Silverthorn Storm Trunk Sewer System construction that may or may not prevent access. Alternative routes are available. Total distancewill be about 10 Km.

The intent is to walk on mostly quieter streets, if possible, but if these are slippery, we will stick to larger streets.

There are washrooms at the Coffee Time at the start, there will be a washroom/coffee stop at about 5.5 Km, and there are washrooms in Christie Pits Park near the end. The walk will end at Christie Station, and we can go to lunch at Pour Boy on Manning, or another nearby restaurant for lunch.

There will be easy access to the TTC at St Clair (streetcars), at Dufferin (buses) and Ossington (buses). The route will be entirely on city streets or paved paths, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather.

Some of the Points of Interest along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km – Coffee Time (start of walk/washroom/coffee)
  • 3.3 Km – Bert Robinson Park Tunnel
  • 4.6 Km – Innes Avenue Pedestrian Bridge
  • 5.5 Km – Caledonia Bakery/Nova Era Bakery (coffee/natas/washrooms/early exit to St Clair streetcar (6-minute service))
  • 5.8 Km – Joseph Piccininni Community Centre (washrooms/early exit to St Clair streetcar (6-minute service))
  • 7.3 Km – Dufferin St (early access to buses (10-minute service)
  • 8.4 Km – Ossington Ave (early access to buses (10-minute service)
  • 9.6 Km – Christie Pits (washroom)
  • 9.9 Km – Christie Station (end of walk)
  • 10.1 Km – Pour Boy on Manning (lunch)
  • 10.3 Km – Christie Station (end of walk)

The RwGPS route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54193886, for the route on quiet streets. If we take major streets it will be basically Eglinton, Prospect Cemetery, St Clair to St Clair West Station.

The last time this entry was updated, there were no scheduled subway outages, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.

Please check the website 2 hours before the start time, in the unlikely event that the walk is rescheduled or cancelled.

We have introduced a 30-Day-Trial membership class which allows "guests" to participate in most activities over the span of a 1-month period. We are accepting guest registrations.
