  • Rouge Hill GO station (Lawrence East and Port Union)

Waterfront to Whitby

New this Year: Guest riders (non-members) will need to register and pay the $5 fee online before the ride. Just follow this link to the registration page. Please bring the confirmation email to the start to show to the leader, either in printed form or on your phone.

TTC Note: The Bloor Danforth subway between Broadview and St George staions will open late on Sunday, around noon. Shuttle buses will run in place of trains between staions. Some will be equipped with bike racks.

GO Transit Note: If you are taking the GO train to the start you will need to catch the 9:13 train from Union (7:23 at Danforth) arriving at approx 9:42.

This ride was scheduled twice this year but the first one was cancelled due to high water levels on Lake Ontario. This later season version means that the paths are less crowded, and there's a chance of seeing some early fall colours. Come try the rarely seen eastern sections of the Waterfront Trail. Enjoy the nicer parts of Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby. Return from Whitby by GO train is an option. There are newly constructed portions that eliminate the previously difficult sections near Whitby including a dedicated separated bike lane on Victoria Street. Lunch is at Tims in Whitby.

The RwGPS map and cue sheet (linked below) were updated (Sept 2015) to avoid the busy boardwalk section on the return trip and show the new section.

For great general maps with lots of helpful notes go to the Waterfront Trail website: www.waterfronttrail.org and pick the first 3 maps of the Pickering to Port Hope section

Meet for a 10am departure from the parking lot of the Rouge Hill GO Station, located at Lawrence Avenue East and East Avenue, just east of Port Union Road.

Please print a copy of the cue sheet provided from the link listed below. Please note that the Ride with GPS cue sheet directions have not been edited and may not be accurate, but the linked cue sheet has been checked.

Remember to bring your TBN membership card and helmet.
