Sunday Urban Roller - Waterfront to Whitby

  • 24 Sep 2017
  • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Rouge Hill GO station (Lawrence East and Port Union)

(Originally scheduled for October 1st)

The first version of this ride scheduled earlier this year had to cancelled as significant sections of the trail were literally underwater due to the abnormally high lake levels. This later season version means that the paths are less crowded, and there's a chance of some early fall colours. Come try the rarely seen eastern sections of the Waterfront Trail. Enjoy the nicer parts of Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby. Return from Whitby by GO train is an option. There are newly constructed portions that eliminate the previously difficult sections near Whitby. Lunch is at Tims in Whitby.

The RwGPS map and cue sheet (linked below) were updated (Sept 2015) to avoid the busy boardwalk section on the return trip and show the new section.

For great general maps with lots of helpful notes go to the Waterfront Trail website: www.waterfronttrail.org and pick the first 3 maps of the Pickering to Port Hope section

Meet for a 10am departure from the parking lot of the Rouge Hill GO Station, located at Lawrence Avenue East and East Avenue, just east of Port Union Road.

Please print a copy of the cue sheet provided from the link listed below. Please note that the Ride with GPS cue sheet directions have not been edited and may not be accurate, but the linked cue sheet has been checked.

Non-members are welcome to join the ride with a payment of five dollars and signing of the waiver form. All participants are required to wear a helmet.
