DESCRIPTION
A medium 93km ride was added on Tuesday. This ride also goes to Goodwood, but is more direct. The goal was to get the shortest route possible, while avoiding busier roads.
Three ride lengths (80 km, 93 km and 105 km) are available. The 80km ride stops in Ballantrae for lunch (hwy 48 and Aurora Road). The long and medium rides stops at the excellent Annina's bakery in the small community of Goodwood. The goal of the 93km medium ride was to get the shortest route possible to Goodwood, while avoiding busier roads. A washroom stop should be possible at the gas station on the SW corner of Elgin Mills and Leslie (around km 17.5), as well as at the lunch stops.
The beginning portions of the three rides are the same. The longer ride is essentially a "loop" off the shorter ride. This means riders can choose during the ride to do a long or short distance, if they wish. This means you should also bring cue sheets for all routes you think you might ride. Likewise, for GPS units, you should download all routes you think you might ride. The 93km ride to Goodwood diverges from the short and long routes just past 23km (short and long go north on Warden, the medium route continues east on 19th Avenue). The short route diverges from the long route at 32km (short turns right on Vandorf Sideroad, the long continues north on Warden).
The short and long routes take all streets back to Finch. The medium route (added recently) takes paved multi-use trails back to Finch (the last 8 km of the ride). These paved trails start south from John street just west of Leslie.
Meet at Finch Subway Station, "Finch" west parking lot on the north side of Hendon Ave, just west of Yonge St.
N.B. If you are travelling north on Yonge St, keep going past Finch Ave and turn left onto Hendon Ave. The parking lot is on the right near 18 Hendon Ave, North York.
We are accepting "guest rider" registrations for this event. Guest registrations are $10 payable via PayPal.
