Motel to Motel plus Weekend Event with Bluegrass Cycling Club (BCC)
Saturday, May 16th to Monday, May 25th

This trip is now sold out. To get on the waiting list, email leaders Marie Ferguson and Dinsmore Roach, dinsmore99@gmail.com.

Reserve time for an exciting and scenic nine days of springtime cycling in Kentucky, enjoying rolling hills and smooth pavement. We will average about 80 km per day, with a sag wagon to carry one piece of luggage per person. We start in Lexington and visit Paris, Mt. Sterling, Richmond, Berea, and Harrodsburg before returning to Lexington for the final Memorial Day Weekend. Here we join with BCC for their Horsey Hundred annual event which starts in Georgetown, a 15 minute drive away. Somewhat like our Cyclon, this event offers rides through the Bluegrass area, with distances between 42 km and 168 km (100 miles) to accommodate all riders. See http://www.horseyhundred.com for more information. We will carpool from Toronto to Lexington, a 10-hour drive, all by Interstate.

NEW THIS YEAR: A short route of 27k will be an option instead of 88k on the fourth day, to give you an easy day for rest purposes into Berea, a pretty college town.

This trip is limited to a group of 12 people (including 2 trip leaders), so book early.  Registration is open to TBN members only until Monday, March 16th, after which date non-members may also apply. When you register, you will receive a confirmation email with an attachment containing an itinerary and some extra information.

Cost: The trip registration fee of $695 (Canadian) includes 9 nights’ accommodation, breakfasts, Horsey Hundred registration fee, T-shirt, and sag wagon support. For non-members, the registration fee is $720. Rooms are motel rooms with double occupancy.

Cancellation: If a group of 10 people is not achieved, the trip will be cancelled and all costs reimbursed. If you need to cancel your registration, you will receive a refund (minus a 10% administration fee) if there is an individual of the same gender who can occupy the room. This person (member or non-member) could be on a waiting list; otherwise, it is up to you to sell your spot. You might wish to purchase insurance for medical/emergency cancellation.

Costs not covered:

  • Other meals which are available at nearby restaurants.
  • Transportation costs to passenger of $150 paid directly to the driver at the beginning of trip.
  • Medical insurance

Optional Horsey Hundred Jersey Purchase: You may purchase a Horsey Hundred Primal cycling jersey via the registration form, or purchase on site if any are available. Last year there was a limited supply. Please indicate your choice of jersey by size and type (short sleeve, sleeveless, or women's gemini top). They are available for review on http://www.horseyhundred.com. The price is $85 CAD.
