Freedom Friday - Stouffville to Goodwood

  • 12 Jul 2019
  • 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Parking lot east of Stouffville Arena -- access from Millard Street

Beat the summer heat on a 64km adventure north from Stouffville, with a coffee stop at Annina’s Bakeshop (reviews) in Goodwood on the way back.

There is a 2km stretch of well-packed gravel at 32.8km, as you turn left onto Ashworth road. You can avoid that by heading further north to Zephyr Road, turning left there and then heading back along Concession 4. The detour adds 11km, and a few big hills.

NEW START POINT

Meet for an 8:30 am departure at the parking lot a block to the east of Stouffville Arena. To reach the lot turn north on 9th Line in Stouffville, and then right at the lights onto Millard Street. Turn right again at the first stop sign (this is technically Edward Street, but the only sign that's easy to spot is one for Bramble Crescent on your left). The lot is on your left.

Two things to note:

Bramble Crescent is a d-shaped road -- you will turn right at the east end of the crescent, which is the second time it intersects with Millard Street.

You can't reach the lot from the south by car from Main Street. You do need to approach it from Millard Street.

Bonus: The parking lot is a short walk (or a very short ride) from the excellent Red Bulb coffee shop, which opens at 530am on weekdays, and makes a perfect pre- or post-ride stopping place. Walk south from the parking lot until you get to the coffee shop, which is on the intersection of Main Street and Edward Street.
