DUE TO ROAD CLOSURE THIS ROUTE HAS BEEN MODIFIED (SEP 22 2021 7:30PM)
This is a mostly flat ride suitable for leisure wheelers who want to stretch their legs for a longer distance during this early autumn season. Starting in downtown Dundas, the route travels to Hamilton Brandford Rail Trail, where it is possible to see part of the "old" train and track, and slowly ascends the Escarpment over 7km.
Arriving at Copetown, turning into Orkney Rd from Governors, there will be a stop at Jerry's Berry on to get some good honey or ice cream with berries. (13.5K point). The route then continues for 10km on scenic, flat and quiet Concession Rd. 2 into Saint George, for the lunch stop. Lunch stop options include: Maggie's Place for burgers and fries (cash only!) or Abigail's House, which is a bakery and has washrooms.
Following lunch, the route continues for 20km on equally scenic Concession Rd. 4 and eventually returns to Dundas via a lovely descent along Brock Road to Hamilton Rd.
Start: 9:30am - Meet at the Municipal Parking Lot 7D located on Hatt St. just west of Ogilvie St. in Dundas, ON
Driving directions: From Toronto, take Hwy 403 west towards Hamilton, exit onto Hwy 6 north, turn left at Hwy 5 (first major intersection), turn left off Hwy 5 at Sydenham St, follow Sydenham St into Dundas and after crossing King St (traffic lights), turn left onto Hatt Street then left into the parking lot (Lot 7D is the second lot and is just after Miller's Lane).
