City Walk- East of Yonge (Jarvis Downtown)

  • 13 Jan 2019
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Tim Hortons, 1521 Yonge, near St. Clair subway station

For Sunday, January 13, meet at 10 AM at the Tim Hortons at 1521 Yonge, on the east side of Yonge just north of St. Clair, near the St. Clair subway station.

We will walk to Union Station, a distance of about 10 Km. We will walk through Mount Pleasant Cemetery and David Balfour Park, then through some quiet streets to a coffee/bathroom break near Yonge and Bloor (about 4 Km). We will then walk south down Jarvis, looking at a few of the buildings and other points of interesting, before heading to the Eaton Centre for another break (at about 7.5 Km). Continuing down Jarvis, we will end up at Union Station (10 Km), where we can have lunch or a snack in the recently opened Food Court.

Since we will be just east of Yonge at all times, we will never be far from a subway station, if you would like to leave early. Since we will be on some gravel paths in the cemetery and park, light hiking shoes or boots suitable for gravel trails would be appropriate.

The planned route is available on Ride With GPS at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29158227

There is currently a scheduled subway closure from St Clair West Station to Union Station for this weekend, in case that affects your travel plans, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/Service_Advisories/Subway_closures/index.jsp for any changes.

Non-members are welcome. This is an official TBN event, so they will be asked to sign the waiver form, but, like all winter walks, will not be charged the non-member fee.

If you have trouble finding us at the start, please call me on my cell at 416-917-8866. If I don't answer, try again, as I may miss the first call.
