Niagara Bike and Hike
May 29 - 31, 2015
The rooms for this event have now sold out. However, cancellations are possible. To get on the list for the first available slot for a person of your sex, email the organizers Carl Friesen and Dan Richards at carl@showyourexpertise.com.
On this new weekend trip, you’ll have a chance to ride the quiet roads and paved off-road trails of Niagara, including the little-known Welland Canal Trail. There will be optional wine tours and a hike along the Bruce Trail. We’ll stay in the comfortable residence of Niagara College, Niagara-on-the-Lake campus. You’ll have your own bedroom in a suite, with shared full bath with shower and kitchen. You can store your bike in your suite. Sheets and towels are provided, and kitchens feature microwave ovens and refrigerators. The Residence serves a continental breakfast in the dining room (you may want to bring your own protein), but for other meals, you provide your own.
If enough people can get there early on Friday, we’ll schedule a short ride starting at 1:00. Friday at around 7:00, you can join the group for supper at a local restaurant if you wish. On Saturday morning we’ll gather for breakfast in the dining room and prepare lunches, followed by your choice of ride. Saturday evening will feature a pot-luck dinner at a nearby park. Sunday starts with breakfast and preparation of lunches, followed by an opportunity for more riding, or for your option of a hike, or your own winery tours.
Price of $145 includes two nights' accommodation, route research and maps, and two continental breakfasts.
Registration opens February 26 for TBN members. After March 26, non-members may also apply at a fee of $155.
