               HAPPY NEW YEAR

Due to popular demand (and because there is nothing else to do) we are going to continue with Winter Hiking.  We will be offering 2 hikes with 2 different hike leaders and 2 different starting times.  When you register please do not double book.  These hikes will be full so do not book both thinking that you can cancel later.  Also be aware that if you book for the early hike and are late for whatever reason you may or may not be allowed to join the later group.  It will depend on spaces being available and will be at the discretion of the hike leader.

THE WALKER WOODS DOUBLE LOOP

The Walker Woods hike takes place on the Oak Ridges Moraine which was formed when a glacier retreated 10,000 to 12,000 years ago leaving behind a massive ridge.  This multi-use trail network provides users with a great variety of loop alternatives with significant natural heritage features and breathtaking vistas.  This is not a difficult trail but sections can be icy and proper footwear including icers are strongly recommended.

Distance:  11 km

Pace:       Moderate (~3.5 km/hr)

Terrain:     Moderate - rocky with hills and/or poor footing.   PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WINTER HIKING IS DIFFERENT THAN FALL HIKING AND YOU NEED TO PREPARE ACCORDINGLY.  Proper footwear including icers are strongly recommended.
