No Leisure Wheeler ride is scheduled for this date, so this walk will be going ahead.

Meet at about 10:00 AM at Victoria Park Station, near the main entrance, street level, just south of the station, on the east side of Victoria Park (or if the weather is bad, inside the main entrance). We will begin the walk at 10:10 sharp.

We will walk west through Taylor Creek Park observing the various habitats including wetlands, meadows, and woodlands. When we reach Beechwood Drive, we will leave the valley of the Don River and then walk south through East York to Chester Station.

There is no planned coffee stop, and there are no early exits until we reach Pape Avenue at about 8 Km. However, at the finish, on Danforth Avenue, there are numerous restaurants including Kalyvia, Mezes, and others.

The walk will be entirely on paved multiuse paths (in a river valley, which may be wet) and city streets, so please wear shoes or boots appropriate for the weather. Total distance is 10.2 Km.

There are currently no scheduled subway outages for this date, but please check https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/subway-service#e=0 in case there are any changes.

Points of interest and early exits along the way include:

  • 0.0 Km – Victoria Park Station (start of walk)
  • 1.4 Km – Taylor Creek Washrooms (washrooms)
  • 6.8 Km - The Great Honey Kiln of 1800
  • 6.9 Km - exit the Don Valley via Beechwood Road
  • 8.0 Km – East York Community Centre (washrooms, and early exit to TTC buses)
  • 10.0 Km - Restaurants (Kalyvia, Mezes, etc.)
