WINTER HIKING
Due to popular demand (and because there is nothing else to do) we are going to continue with Winter Hiking. We will be offering 3 hikes with 3 different hike leaders and 3 different starting times. When you register please do not double book. These hikes will be full so do not book both thinking that you can cancel later. Also be aware that if you book for the early hike and are late for whatever reason you may or may not be allowed to join the later group. It will depend on spaces being available and will be at the discretion of the hike leader.
TERRA COTTA / SILVER CREEK LOOP
This route begins in the southeastern portion of Terra Cotta Conservation Area near the Caledon Trailway off Winston Churchill Boulevard. It is a Bruce Trail side-trail which takes you past old conifer plantations, valley edges and into mature forest stands. This trail further connects with the Silver Creek Loop including both the Irwin Quarry Trail and the Roberson Side Trail. The Terra Cotta part of the trail is hilly with some rock but as it becomes the Silver Creek Trail the elevation changes are greater with more scenic lookouts and definitely more rock. Depending on the day ICERS will be required.
Distance: 13 km
Pace: Moderate (~3.5 km/hr)
Terrain: Moderate - rocky with hills and/or poor footing. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WINTER HIKING IS DIFFERENT THAN FALL HIKING AND YOU NEED TO PREPARE ACCORDINGLY. Proper footwear including icers are strongly recommended.

Parking is alongside the road so it should be ok but it can be busy so please do not be late and find yourself scrambling for a parking spot.
