Many winter events ahead:

Arrowhead Snow & Snowshoe Weekend Jan 10 - 12

Once again, the Tulip Inn near Huntsville will be the après ski HQ for the Arrowhead Ski & Snowshoe Extravaganza. Enjoy various levels and lengths of ski, snowshoe and hiking trails and then warm up by the fireplace with complimentary mulled apple cider. Meals and refreshments organized all weekend long.

Ottawa Winterlude

Jan 30 - Feb 2

Sign up here for a fun-filled weekend during the Ottawa Winterlude Festival.  Ski some of the best trails, skate the famous Rideau Canal and participate in Winterlude. Attractions and entertainment includes ice sculptures and outdoor concerts.

Wanakita Snow & Snowshoe Weekend Feb 21 - 23

Sign up here for two nights at YMCA Camp Wanakita in a large, comfortable and heated cabin; the camp is located on the beautiful Koshlong Lake, in the Haliburton Highlands.

Enjoy 25 kilometres of trails, groomed and tracked, for classic and skate-skiing. The camp also offers free use of snow-shoes, skis and toboggans. For those that like challenges, there are various ‘rope-and-tire’ balancing, climbing and dangling exercises. Otherwise you can read and relax by the fire, do a night ski across the lake to a bonfire, and/or ice-skate.

Wolf Den Ski & Snowshoe Weekend

Feb 28 - March 2

SOLD OUT

Contact Jean at weekendtrips@tbn.ca if you have any suggestions for a weekend trip or wish to lead one.

Seasons Greetings

Well TBN'ers, we hope everyone survived the ice storm and power outage. Many of us were without power and had to hunker down with a friend, relative or at a hotel. There are numerous heart-warming stores of Torontonians opening up their homes and offering shelter to those in need.

The roads were treacherous and we expect that those brave TBN'ers that ride in the winter took extra care while commuting. Or maybe you hopped on one of these!

Boxing Week Specials

Now that your Christmas presents are all opened, its time to seek out those Boxing Week specials. Start with retailers and services that offer discounts to TBN members. You can stop by local bike shops throughout the GTA, or buy services such as tours, training sessions, beautiful cycling artwork, or a subscription to Pedal Magazine; please support the businesses that support TBN.

TBN Cycling Jersey Contest

Update: If you are planning on submitting a design, please contact publicity@tbn.ca if you have not already done so, so that we know how many designs will be entered.

Design a new TBN cycling jersey and 'cycle' away with two free jerseys! Start with a blank slate and be as creative as you want to be!

Or, if you do not wish to design, then you are welcome to join the selection committee.

The web page relating to the jersey contest will be updated every so often, so check back for additional details from time-to-time.

Become a Ski Instructor or Ambassador

If you are a keen skier, preferably with CANSI based training, and interested in becoming a trainee instructor, then please provide your name, experience and telephone number to xcski@tbn.ca.

The Ski program is also seeking volunteer ‘ambassadors’ to assist with new members or beginners, later this month, when the ski season starts.  Again, please contact xcski@tbn.ca to become a volunteer.

Become Educated

The ever expanding Education program includes helpful tips that derive from the events. Learn more about stretching and cycling etiquette on the Education page and check back often for more content. If you have any suggestions for the Education page or ideas for events, then please contact education@tbn.ca.

Upcoming Events

Spinning classes continue on Wednesdays and Skating on Fridays.

The Cross County Ski & Snowshoe program commences December 29 and now is the time to sign up for bus rides and lessons. Travel in a comfortable highway coach to ski country while you relax or chat with fellow skiers; then enjoy a rigorous and exhilarating day on the trails.

Cycle Touring Around The World: Organized vs Self Supported - January 14

A well-traveled TBN member will regale us with adventures that will be entertaining, informative and inspiring for all cycling aficionados. You will not want to miss this so please register here.

Check out the upcoming calendar of events and remember to check regularly for updates and new events.

Also check the Forum for unofficial events hosted by members. A reminder that all members are welcome to organize an unofficial hike, bike ride, ski trip, skate, yoga, pub night or anything at all, and post the details to the TBN Forum and on the TBN Facebook page.
