WINTER EVENTS GALORE TO CHOOSE FROM

Arrowhead Snow & Snowshoe Weekend Jan 10 - 12

Once again the Tulip Inn near Huntsville will be our après ski HQ for the Arrowhead Ski & Snowshoe Extravaganza. Enjoy various levels and lengths of ski, snowshoe and hiking trails and then warm up by the fireplace in the Tulip Inn Chalet with some complimentary mulled apple cider. There will be a potluck dinner Saturday night in the main dining room (back by popular demand), a welcome social on Friday night with snacks and refreshments in the Chalet.

Wanakita Snow & Snowshoe Weekend Feb 21 - 23

Sign up here soon for two nights at YMCA Camp Wanakita in a large, comfortable and heated cabin; the camp is located on the beautiful Koshlong Lake, in the Haliburton Highlands.

Enjoy 25 kilometres of trails, groomed and tracked, for classic and skate-skiing. The camp also offers free use of snow-shoes, skis and toboggans. For those that like challenges, there are various ‘rope-and-tire’ balancing, climbing and dangling exercises. More Winter Events To Be Announced Soon

Contact Jean at weekendtrips@tbn.ca  if you have any suggestions for a trip, or wish to lead one.

Remember to check the TBN website up to two hours before the scheduled start time in case activities are cancelled at the last minute!

Greetings TBN'ers!

The TBN Annual General Meeting & Dinner & Dance was held last Saturday and it was once again a huge success. TBN President Arlene Smith announced the new board of directors for 2014, which will be busy managing the club and continuing to bring members and non-members a host of cycling and non-cycling activities 12 months a year.

Jean O'Grady proudly presented the TBN Volunteer of The Year award to David Peebles, long-time leader of the Tuesday Ravine rides. David's dedication to leading the rides and ensuring all participants are looked after is legendary. TBN is proud to have David amongst its ranks of volunteers.

David took home a $100 gift certificate from MEC!

As always, we welcome additional volunteers to help out with the vast array of programs, so please contact president@tbn.ca if you can volunteer, or if you have any suggestions.

The 2013 group of volunteers will be honoured at a local restaurant on November 21 as a token of appreciation for their efforts, compliments of TBN.

There are plenty of ways for TBN to keep you active in the off season.

Hiking - Tifffany Falls - October 27

Hiking, City Walks, Spinning are underway with Skating set to begin this Friday.  A few winter weekend trips are open for registration, see side-bar. A few more Education events are scheduled.

You can still cycle a few more weeks with the Wednesday Wheelies and maybe a Sunday 8:30am Tourist ride, however, all the other rides are now unofficial so continue to check the events calendar and Forum for possible rides. In fact, all members are welcome to organize an unofficial ride and post the details to the Forum and on the TBN Facebook page.

TBN Jersey Contest Coming Soon

Isn't it time for a new TBN cycling jersey? Stay tuned for the 'Design a TBN Jersey Contest'. The winning design - as voted by TBN members -  will be submitted to a top quality manufacturer of cycling jerseys and then go on sale to members. The Board has decided to subsidize the cost, so you will have an added incentive to buy at least one jersey in time for the start of the 2014 season. Details to be announced by end of year. Contact publicity@tbn.ca if you wish to submit a design, or if you wish to be on a panel of judges.

Upcoming Events

Both City Walks and Hiking continue weekly on Sundays, Spinning classes on Wednesdays and Skating on Fridays. The cross county ski & snowshoe schedule is coming soon. Check out the upcoming calendar of events and remember to check regularly for updates and new events.
