Greetings everyone
TBN is a few weeks into cycling season, with just about every ride category now underway.
Of course, the weather is still somewhat erratic, so there's nothing like a Tim's coffee to warm us up before heading back on the road, as these happy "Tourists" can attest to.
Remember that as a current TBN member, no registration is required for regular weekly rides, just show up, show your membership card and ride. You are also encouraged to invite non-members to try out a ride. They will be asked to sign a waiver and pay a $5 non-member fee. Should they decide to join at a later date, this $5 payment will be counted towards their payment. Everything anyone needs to know about joining the club can be found in our Membership FAQs.
Some weekend events are on sale and selling out fast. Find out more on the panel to the right, including a brand new trip to Quebec.
TBN previously announced that the Quick Release newsletter is being issued three times in 2013: Spring, Summer and Fall. Effective with the summer issue, TBN members will have to opt in to have a copy mailed to their home. Detailed instructions on how to do so will appear on the website in the next few days, and will also be included in a future COE email. Remember that you can also see the online version under the About TBN tab on the home page of the website.
Recently added to the TBN Website
Under Resources, there is now a list of other cycling events in the region. This includes charity rides, Gran Fondos, weekend events, and more. If you know of other rides in Southern Ontario, please submit them to webadmin@tbn.ca.
The TBN photo gallery on Flickr is starting to fill up with pics of early season rides. Remember to send your ride photos to photoadmin@tbn.ca so that all TBN members can enjoy the pics.
The Retailer and Services Discount Program could use your help. Go to your favourite bike shop or service and tell them about the discount program. They probably received an email encouraging them to sign up, but it never hurts to hear it from their own customers.
Do you want more content on the site? Please send suggestions to webadmin@tbn.ca. In fact, if you can offer to help create the content, then that will improve the chances of it being posted, and sooner.
Remember that TBN is a volunteer based club, so the more everyone can pitch in, the better for all of us. If you is wish to volunteer, but are not sure in what capacity, then please email president@tbn.ca.
Coming Soon to the TBN WebsiteCheck back soon for the remaining cycling schedules, weekend camping trips and more education and social events. Also check the Saturday Morning Rides before you venture out on May 18 and May 25 as the routes may change because of upcoming TBN activities on those days.
Contest Winner
Last week the contest question was: In the "Types of Rides" section, which boxes did you check off?
There was really was no right or wrong answer, so a name was randomly drawn from those who entered. Congratulations to Samantha Sang who won a $25 gift certificate from Cyclepath Norco Yonge Eglinton.
On that note, please log in and update your profile with this information. If not sure how, stay tuned for instructions to be posted soon on the TBN website. One day, we may randomly draw a name from a certain category and simply award them a prize. You see, as a TBN member, you never know when you'll win free stuff!
