May 30 Pub Night - Celebrate warmer weather .... and try before you buy

Wednesday of next week, TBN members will gather to celebrate warmer weather (at last!!!) and to try on samples from Louis Garneau, the award winning Canadian firm that is making our jerseys. Join us on May 30th from 6 to 9 pm at Pauper's Pub, 539 Bloor West, east of Bathurst.  


Save at MEC this Wednesday and Thursday

This week, TBN members can save 10 percent at Mountain Equipment Coop. Look for the TBN table to get your discount card from 5 pm to 9 pm at MEC's downtown location on Wednesday May 23, and at MEC's new North York store at Sheppard and Leslie on Thursday May 24



Last chance for Barrie Midland History bike tour

From July 20 to 24, you can enjoy a relaxing ride through some of Ontario's most historic sites. This memorable ride costs $455 - and if you can handle the hills of High Park, you'll be able to deal with the hills on this ride. We have four members signed up, another four and we'll be good to go. Go here for more information. 


May 27th deadline - Sign up for TNTO's 25th anniversary ride

Hard to believe it's been 25 years for TBN's return ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls. spread over two days. This year's ride is June 16th and 17th, with the deadline to sign up May 27th. Rides start from High Park for the ambitious or Stoney Creek for the sane. More details are here


Volunteer at Ride for Heart - and enjoy the beer & wings afterparty

Sunday June 3 will take the partnership between TBN and Ride for Heart to a new level. We have 9 spots left (out of 60!) for Ride Ambassadors to act as the "eyes and ears" of the ride on the Gardiner and the Don Valley Parkway. 


New this year, tourist class riders can volunteer as Ride Marshals,

 riding in pairs to warn riders who are going too fast or behaving dangerously. And after the ride, courtesy of Ride for Heart we are hosting an after party featuring beer and wings to thank all TBN volunteers. Click here to sign up as a Ride Marshall.




Free TBN rides for your friends - Bike Week next week

In the next while, there are two ways to invite your friends to cycle with TBN for free. Next week marks bike week - from Monday May 28 to Sunday June 3, TBN is waiving all fees for guest rides. And now when your friends sign up for TBN's Chain of Events email newsletter, their first guest ride is free. 


Cyclon goes to Waterloo - June 11 early bird deadline

TBN's flagship three-day out-of-town event is open for registration. At this year's Cyclon,ride quiet country roads past traditional Mennonite farms as we visit the Waterloo area from August 3-6, with accommodation on the Wilfred Laurier campus. Sign up by June 11 for early bird pricing. But act fast. Cyclon consistently sells out the first year that we move to a new city. See the website for more details.


Save the Date: June 14th Pizza, Pop & Cycling Info Session

June 14th will be your chance to hear short updates from representatives from the City of Toronto Bicycling Unit and the Toronto Police Services on cycling safety. Stay tuned for more details.

Your chance to participate in the 25th anniversary of TBN's return ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls. 


Hairshirt, June 24

Challenge yourself on the annual Hairshirt ride, a ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls and back for a total one-day distance of 322km.

Midland History Bike Tour, July 20 – 24 , 2018

A gentle 4-day trip starting from Barrie. A highlight: a lighthouse visit that now includes a short presentation by a representative of the Beausoleil First Nations on the history of the area. See the website for details.

Cyclon Aug 3-6

Three days in bike-friendly Waterloo. Registration will open soon.

Camping Weekend August 24-26

New for May: Nominate TBN's member of the month

Starting this month, TBN has a new program to recognize members who go above and beyond. To nominate someone who's made TBN a better place to ride, send a short email to  memberofthemonth@tbn.ca. Just include your name and the member you’re nominating and briefly describe what they did. The winner gets a $50 gift certificate and qualifies to be recognized as Member of the Year.

TBN partners offer great deals for our members, with discounts at numerous bike stores, bike tours outside Ontario, charity ride registration, and much more. Please support TBN's great partners. Remember to present your valid TBN membership card for a discount at any TBN discount partner.

As always, check the TBN website for details of all the rides and other events that are coming up, and remember to check back a couple of hours before a ride in case it's changed or cancelled because of poor weather, or other factors beyond our control.
