TBN New Member Orientation |
Welcome to Toronto Bicycling Network and thank you for joining! Starting out with a new club can be intimidating, and we're here to help you get the most out of your new TBN membership. |
You're logged in, now what? The best place to start is to take a look at the TBN calendar and see what rides, social events or other activities you might like to participate in.
|
You will see CALENDAR on the purple menu bar across the top of every page on the tbn.ca site. Hover over the word CALENDAR and you'll see two options: CALENDAR and THIRD PARTY EVENTS Click on the name of any event listed on the calendar and that will take you to the "event page" where you will find more details about the event and a link to register. | ![]() The TBN calendar shows all rides, social events, overnight trips, hiking, walking, educational events, and more! Check back often to see what's new. |
|
You joined a bike club to ride bikes with friends. What ride should you try first? We have rides for every level of rider on almost every day of the week. Also, registering for and trying any ride is not a commitment! Don't like that one? Try another one next time. Try them all! We're flexible that way. But you do have to be registered to attend a TBN event. |
But what do the TBN ride levels mean? What's a Leisure Wheeler? Wednesday Wheelie? Country Cruise? Urban roller? How do I know what to choose? |
We hear you! All of our ride classifications explained HERE. |
Are you a new CYCLIST and also new to TBN? If this sounds like you, your best first ride might be a Leisure Wheeler ride such as our Tuesday Ravine Rides or our Sunday Leisure Wheelers. If you are a more experienced cyclist but just new to TBN or riding with a club, perhaps get your feet wet with an Urban Roller level ride or a No-Drop Country ride. |
|
So you've picked a ride and are ready to register. What now?
| Click on any event listed on the calendar and it will get you to the Event Page. There you will find all the important details about the event. If it's a ride, it will show you a map of the route, the distance for the ride and the ride classification, and any other important details, especially if there are baked goods and coffee involved! | There will be info on where the ride meets, and the name of the ride leader. Ready to commit? All you have to do is click the Register button.
|
May seem like a lot, but try it out and you'll get used to it pretty quickly! Any questions? Stuck? Reach out to membership@tbn.ca or the ride leader/organizer for a specific event if you have questions. |
|
How else can I get info about TBN news and get involved? |
The tbn.ca website and calendar should always be your go-to for info. The Chain of Events (or CoE) for once a month highlights, and occasionally TBN will send an e-blast for timely news.
Catch up on archived CoE's HERE | If you are not already subscribed, it's never too late! Subscribe HERE. | ![]() TBN and its board consists entirely of volunteers. See volunteer roles HERE |
What about Social Media? TBN is on many social media channels but we recognize that not everyone loves being social on socials! We do our best to provide all most relevant info on multiple channels to reach as many members as possible! |
