Ontario Moving to Step Two of Roadmap to Reopen on June 30
The Ontario government announced that most parts of the province will be moving to Step 2 of its Roadmap (currently Waterloo region will remain in Step 1) on June 30th. In Step 2, outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people will be allowed. This is encouraging news; TBN events will be able to host more people than we have for a long time. Our rides will begin offering more registration slots. We are striving to eliminate our collective experience of not being able to register for a ride. We believe that the extra allowance to 25 will solve most of our supply problems.
As of June 30th, many TBN rides will have group sizes up to the 25 limit, some others may have fewer than 25, per the discretion and preferences of the Program Coordinators and Ride Leaders. Yes, we will still be requiring you to register. And no, we will not be opening up rides for non-members at this time. Of course, Covid safe social distancing will continue to be followed, and you still need to bring a mask and sanitizer as before.
As mentioned in the June 17th Chain of Events:
- - If you are not registered for an event, do not simply show up, hoping for a last-minute cancellation.
- - Join the waitlist if registration is full (hopefully this won't happen as often. If you are on the waitlist, and someone cancels, you will be "promoted" to registered status within five minutes. By joining a waitlist, you are signaling to TBN that the event needs more registration spots, or perhaps a second staggered start event
- - If you are registered for an event, don't be a "no-show". If you can't attend, cancel your registration, ideally the evening before the event. If you want to be removed from the waitlist, contact technical@tbn.ca or the Program Coordinator for help.
- - Please don't be greedy. Rather than registering for every ride as it pops up, consider targeting one or two rides a week. For other rides, check a day or two before the event, and register then if there are still spaces available. Or volunteer to lead a "Group 2" event the same day, 30 minutes later.
As always, check the TBN website for details of all rides and other events, and remember to check back a couple of hours before a ride in case it's changed or cancelled because of poor weather or other factors beyond our control.
