Enjoy cycling on one of the top rated, award winning bike routes in the world: the Route Verte.
We leave on Via Rail from Toronto to Montreal and then cover 400km over 6.3 days of cycling, first along the north
shore of
St. Lawrence River to Trois-Rivières and then cross by ferry to ride through the Eastern Townships back to
Montreal. Along the way, we stay in historic B&Bs that are approved for cyclists (special breakfasts, secure quarters for bikes and tools for minor repairs) and hotels, as well as sample traditional French Canadian cuisine and patisseries.
Approximate cost for the trip is: $700 per person for Via Rail and accommodations. Meals (lunch (suggest supermarket based lunches) and dinner ($20-$30)) are in addition, but we will endeavour to get group discounts and select traditional cuisine restaurants for dinner. Final cost will vary slightly depending on the number of people involved.
This is an unsupported tour, meaning that you need to carry your gear in bike panniers and be self-sufficient (have the right equipment, clothing and able to do basic bike repairs). The cycling is easy-moderate throughout.
Train Travel Itinerary:
Via Rail Departure Toronto: Friday, June 21, 6:40 am (this allows us time to bike out of Montreal to our first overnight stop)
