Club News May 1, 2026

The spring cycling season is finally here so it's time to get ready to ride with TBN! That means making sure your bike, your gear and your TBN membership are up to date and working properly to get you safely out on the roads. If you are new to TBN, our new member orientation page is a good place to start. You can update your profile and renew your membership at the same time. See Membership FAQ's for info on that.

TBN has partnerships with several bike shops and other businesses offering discounts to members. TBN has MORE to offer this season; Even MORE rides, MORE friends and MORE fun! Questions about your membership? Contact membership@tbn.ca

Join TBN for breakfast with cycling friends. Wave 1 jersey orders will be distributed and we will pose for a group photo. All welcome. Bring your friends or anyone interested in learning about TBN. Four different rides will be leaving from the breakfast; make sure to register in advance for those (separately from the registration for food). See the TBN Calendar for details.

Drip coffee will be provided at the breakfast (free to TBN members) by Stage 21 and fancy coffees are available for purchase. There will be the usual gourmet baked goods, bagels and more. This one is on TBN so no charge for members and guests.

If you would like to ride Bike for Brain Health on May 31 as a TBN Ride Marshal, more spots have opened up. Please register here

If you have already registered to ride Bike for Brain Health as a MARSHAL and have not attended a marshal orientation meeting, please contact Ed Ravin at dal2@tbn.ca asap.

Now that the weather is finally starting to improve you might see larger groups of TBN'ers out there, maybe even in our new jerseys! Wave if you see us. This photo was taken by member Todd Clayton when he saw the TBN Ravine Riders roll by. All of our TBN cycling programs are up and running for a great 2026 season. Remember to check the TBN calendar often and sign up for Program-X alerts.

New this season: Special Regrouping Rides. TBN has designated certain Tourist Class rides as "regrouping" meaning that there will be an extra ride leader who will stop at points during the ride to let slower riders who ride at an Urban Roller pace to catch up before continuing. These rides are great for newer riders or those newer to riding in the country. Details for these rides will be on the individual event pages and shown on the calendar. Upcoming rides of this type: May 3, May 27, June 12, June 28, July 5, July 17. Questions? Info@tbn.ca

Register by May 15 for TBN's iconic ride. Ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls one day, celebrate with friends on arrival, have a great dinner and then ride back to Toronto the next day. What could be better? Ride your way; start in Toronto or Stoney Creek. Don't wait for warm weather to commit to this epic trip. Questions? Email tnto@tbn.ca

*This team is separate from the marshal team and it's for fundraising. Questions about TBN BFBH Fundraising team, email info@tbn.ca

Join us for our workshop with Dave Shellnutt, founder of The Biking Lawyer LLP, on May 4 at Fix Coffee & Bike, Gladstone location.

This workshop aims to educate cyclists about their rights, empower the cycling community, and raising awareness of cyclists’ legal entitlements and rights. In this workshop, Dave will highlight critical steps to take post-collision. It will help cyclists understand the claims process, report filing, insurance coverage, and how to document any damage sustained. Register here.

Sponsor Profile:

Suzanne Stephens Real Estate

Greetings TBN community! I was introduced to the club by members who have bought and sold their homes with me in North Toronto. I'm a beginner cyclist and Toronto Bicycling Network seems like a great place to learn and make new cycling friends. I am very social and plan to attend some TBN social events this summer as well as trying some rides.

Spring is a season for new beginnings in real estate just like in Toronto cycling! One of my specialties is rightsizing, helping people find the right home when their current home is too big or takes too much upkeep. Providing honest advice that is in the best interest of my clients, with no pressure, is something that I take pride in. I try to provide as much support as possible during the transition. I have experience in buying, selling, freehold and condo, rentals and commercial real estate. If you would like a free rightsizing brochure or to chat, please reach out to me anytime. When we're not actually cycling, we like to talk about cycling, think about cycling and reminisce about great cycling at home and around the world. If you have gone on an amazing cycling trip and would like to present it to some TBN'ers, please email publicity@tbn.ca.
