Message from the President

As we step into September, I want to take a moment to celebrate the diversity within our cycling community. Each ride we embark on is not just about the distance we cover, but also about the unique perspectives and experiences each of you brings to our group.

Let’s continue to support each other and enjoy the beautiful journeys ahead.

Happy cycling!

Club News

Let's celebrate the volunteers that keep TBN rolling!

It's time to recognize TBN volunteers who made a difference in 2026. Running a cycling club as big as TBN takes many hands and our club is fortunate to have some great people who volunteer their time in myriad ways. This year, we will be accepting nominations for six volunteer awards, and the winner will be chosen by a new volunteer awards committee. Awards will be presented at the AGM dinner on Nov. 14.

TBN AGM Dinner and Dance, Nov. 14

The TBN AGM Dinner and Dance is an event you won't want to miss. Catch up with TBN friends, enjoy a delicious dinner, and take part in the club's annual general meeting where you'll hear updates on the past year, review club business, and welcome newly elected members to the board of directors. Then celebrate another great cycling season by dancing the night away to live music. More info about the AGM here.

If you'd like to volunteer to help before or at the AGM, please email social@tbn.caRegistration will open Sept. 14

Upcoming Events

Do you want to increase your cycling skill level? Be a safer and more defensive rider on the road? Perhaps you are a ride leader, but you are uncertain about what skills/behaviours to demonstrate and encourage as you lead your ride. A perk for TBN members is the opportunity to take the CanBike Level 3/4 course for NO COST while learning from CanBike certified instructors (and fellow TBN members).

Member Profiles: What's your cycling story?

David Gladish

David first became involved in cycling many years ago, in his 30s, through the High Park Cycling Club, now the Toronto Bicycling Club (not to be confused with TBN!).

“In those days that club was devoted to overnight trips every weekend of the summer,” says David, “and I organized a few of those trips myself.

People showed up, pitched their tents, stayed up until all hours, grabbed meals over the line of BBQ's, and had the best times of the summer.“

I switched to TBN from about 1990 to 1998, got married in the latter year and left TBN to focus on raising a family. We adopted two daughters from China. After my paternal efforts were reduced, and I retired from the workforce, I rejoined TBN 11 years ago. I started in Leisure Wheelers, then worked up to Wednesday Wheelies and Freedom Fridays, cycling whenever I could get out. However, in the last year or two, as I have noticed my speeds dropping, probably due to my advancing age, I thought about trying other rides in the club. So now I'm cycling more with Urban Rollers and Leisure Wheelers. My ambition is to match Dave Mader's record for cycling well into my 80s.”

If you or someone you know would like to be featured in a future TBN Member Profile, please email info@tbn.ca
