Effective immediately Italo Bravo has stepped down as the President of TBN for personal reasons. We thank him for his contributions and guidance. Paul Min, Vice-President, has been appointed to serve in his place. Paul, a long term member of the club, will work to ensure the club’s continued success as the nomination committee begins the search for a Vice-President. On behalf of the board, Paul would like to thank Italo for his hard work and dedication to TBN.

If you know someone who would like to be considered for the role of Vice-President, please email info@tbn.ca.

TBN Cycling Program Updates
|
|
|
The CNE starts this week, sadly something every Torontonian knows signals that summer is coming to an end. But we have lots of great rides left on the calendar so check that often! It's a good idea to be extra vigilant on the roads and be aware of extra traffic, and tourists, on the Martin Goodman Trail.
Check the TBN Calendar and website regularly for upcoming rides and events. The next 20 upcoming events can always be found here. Regularly scheduled rides are added to the calendar well in advance, but check back regularly for special events, Program-X rides and other pop-ups that could show up anytime.

Do you want to increase your cycling skill level? Be a safer and more defensive rider on the road? Perhaps you are a TBN ride leader, but you are uncertain about what skills/behaviours to demonstrate and encourage as you lead your ride. A perk for TBN members is the opportunity to take the CanBike Level 3/4 course for NO COST while learning from CanBike certified instructors (and fellow TBN members)

Member Profiles: What's your cycling story?

Martin has been riding his bike 60+ years. Learning to ride at the age of four, he rode his bike to kindergarten all the way to grade 3. At the age of 12, Martin rode his first 40 km ride in rural Quebec on his banana seat bike. At 15, he had graduated to a European 10-speed racing bike, and rode it to visit his first girlfriend who lived 45 km away. In 1983, now in Toronto, he bought a quality bike from Bloor Cycle and noticed a flyer for TBN. He joined TBN with his girlfriend and they were active during 1983-1984 on many rides, using the membership discounts to get all the bike touring kit they needed.
In the summer of 1984, Martin and Pat bike-toured, fully loaded, from Toronto to the Gaspésie in Quebec: 18 days in the saddle. The later '80s included 2 tours visiting Sudbury, Manitoulin Islands,Tobermory to Grand Bend to Toronto. After raising a family and retiring from a long career, Martin rejoined the club in 2018 and he found his community in TBN. Martin has served as club president, technical director and in many other volunteer club roles over the years.
